Erling T.V. Klingenberg, born 21st of January 1970.

Erling T.V. Klingenberg studied at the Icelandic College of Art & Craft and graduated from there in 1994.  He also studied at the Hochschule fur Bildende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and in Kiel in Germany.  From there he went to Halifax, Canada and graduated 1997 with a MFA degree from Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. 
Erling T.V. Klingenberg has both exhibited in his native Iceland and abroad, f.ex. in Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, Netherland, Ireland, Poland, USA, Canada and China.  Beside his own practice, Erling is one of the founder of Kling & Bang gallery (2003) that also ran the artist base KlinK and BanK 2004 and 2005.   He has, with his colleagues at Kling & Bang, organized and collaborated on various project with many other artists, such as Sheep Plug with Jason Rhoades and Paul McCarthy, the film Skipholt with John Bock, Two Hanks with David Askevold, Hugris with Gelitin and the Sirkus Bar at Frieze Project (Frieze Art Fair 2008) and many more.

KARLHEIZ DEUTZMANN

Geboren am 15. September 1951 in Köln | Lebt und arbeitet in Köln

Karlheinz Deutzmann begann seine berufliche Laufbahn 1966 als Versicherungskaufmann. Parallel dazu entwickelte er seit 1975 eine intensive künstlerische Tätigkeit als Autodidakt im Bereich der Collage. Seine Arbeiten entstehen aus einem sensiblen Zusammenspiel von Fundstücken, Fragmenten und eigenen Bildern, mit einem besonderen Gespür für die poetische Kraft des Materials.

Neben seiner eigenen künstlerischen Praxis baute Deutzmann über Jahrzehnte hinweg eine umfangreiche Sammlung von Literatur- und Kunstbüchern auf, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf der Zeit nach 1945. Diese Sammlung spiegelt ein tiefes Interesse an kulturellen Bewegungen und künstlerischen Entwicklungen der Nachkriegsmoderne wider.

Deutzmanns Leidenschaft gilt neben der bildenden Kunst auch der Musik, Literatur, dem Film, der Fotografie sowie dem Modernen Tanz. Diese Disziplinen fließen als Inspirationsquellen in sein Schaffen ein und prägen seinen vielschichtigen künstlerischen Blick auf die Welt.

Seine „Analogen Collagen“, wie er sie selbst nennt, entstehen in einem rein analogen Prozess: Schneiden, Kleben, Zusammenfügen – Handarbeit im eigentlichen, fast archaischen Sinn. Doch Deutzmanns Werke gehen weit über bloße Handfertigkeit hinaus. Mit akribischer Präzision und einem feinen Gespür für das visuelle Echo vervielfältigt er seine Vorlagen, integriert dieselben Bildelemente mehrfach und erschafft so Porträts und Gesichter, die beim ersten Blick irritieren und gleichzeitig faszinieren.
Durch diese bewusste Wiederholung bricht er vertraute Sehgewohnheiten auf und öffnet den Blick für neue Dimensionen der Wahrnehmung. Deutzmanns Collagen laden ein, das Fragmentarische als Ganzes zu begreifen – und das Bekannte im Ungewohnten neu zu entdecken.
